What has been

Sunday 18 January 2015

You have probably seen posts similar to this all over blogs since the beginning of the year, now I know this is rather late on in the new year, but ahh well. I did this sort of post last year and really enjoyed looking back at all of my outfits from the year and choosing my favourite from each month, so am doing the same again! 2014 was one interesting year full of growth, change and emotion and I feel like in some ways that was reflected more and more in my personal style and outfit choices. As the year went on I feel like I became a little more adventurous and confident in what I was wearing, caring less about what others thought and wearing what I wanted, when I wanted. One thing is for sure 2014 was the year of the pink plaid skirt, the white duster coat and the big round statement sunglasses!
January was a month of layers, pretty dresses and an over sized coat that I was completely in love with! I think February was a more relaxed month when it came to style, allowing me to be comfy and at home in my clothing choices whilst life was somewhat mad and stressful. March saw me begin to branch out and become more confident and decisive in my style. I invested in statement skirts that I loved and that helped me feel more happy in myself, my own skin and what I was wearing. I had a really fun time experimenting with my clothes during March too!
Cute little outfits were on the cards for April whilst the weather began to look up but still held onto the last remnants of winter and chill. May marked the beginning of a Spring trend for my favourite plaid pink skirt, it fitted just nice and went with monochrome, a colour scheme I was beginning to really embrace. The sun really started to show it's head in June and I was able to pull out the bare legs for the first time in 2014, allowing me to have some fun and play around with summer clothes and banish those tights to the back of the draw!
Simple but fun and eye catching outfits were a key part of July, as was the continuation of my love for monochrome! In August I really enjoyed experimenting and clashing patterns in outfits, plus this New Look kimono barely left my body, it's still a firm favourite! The above outfit is one of my all time favourites, and it graced the month of September. In all honesty I still can't believe that I wore and put together that outfit, it's just so ballsy and cool and both of those things are very un-me! I think September was the month that I really started wearing what I wanted and stopped caring as much about what others thought or would say about me, and that started with those amazing culottes!
I feel like during the final few months of the year my style and look really started to reflect some of the growth that I'd had to go through during the year, I was loving my wardrobe and loving uni and those things also added to autumn/winter's positive dressing/style. October saw both the end of autumn and beginning of winter, I think I was clinging on for dear life to the former and it's not too hot not too cold nature. My love for my white duster coat was still going strong in November, and I was enjoying pairing it with classic colours and patterns, plus layering it up to help keep warm in the cooler month that November was. During December I came home from uni for a month and I was constricted by the clothes, or lack of that I had remembered to pack. Hi, I'm Holly and I forgot to pack any cardigans for a month at home in the height of Winter! But I managed and loved being able to experiment with layers, plus the new clothes I got for Christmas and in the sales!

So there is my style and outfit highlights of 2014, let me know which of these outfits or items is your favourite!
